Musoma Trainer Job Advertisement
Nairobits is youth empowerment initiative that draws target youth from the informal settlements (slums) around Nairobi. Nairobits primary objective is to provide vulnerable youth from East Africa with technical, life and entrepreneurial skills that will allow them to improve their prospects in life. With a focus on Information and Communications Technology (ICT, Nairobits endeavors to give youth marketable skills than enable them to challenge the social and economic factors that make them vulnerable.
Owing the success of concept in Nairobi Kenya, Terre des Hommes Netherlands is supporting Nairobits to replicate this concept in Musoma, Tanzania. The project is called Musoma Information Centre. Musoma Information Centre is recruiting a trainer.
The position is available from January 2012 for an initial period of six months. The candidate must be available immediately and willing to work as an intern and undergo an intensive training of trainers training.
Main purpose of the job
To design, deliver information and communication technology (ICT) training specifically in areas of computer applications, creative thinking and web design in consultation with the senior trainers in Nairobi. The trainer will also train the centre’s specific courses of Multimedia, entrepreneurship and life skills.
Key responsibilities and tasks:
1. Assist in curriculum development
2. Recruit students
3. Train students in ICT skills
4. Administer assignments and examinations
5. Mark assignments and examinations
6. Attend to student concerns
7. Attend to inquiries about the training and program in general
8. Work hand in hand with senior trainers
9. Keep up to date with developments in the ICT field
10. Basic machine maintenance and repair.
11. Organize graduation ceremonies
12. In charge of Musoma Information Center equipment in the centers
13. Undertake all administrative duties in the center.
14. Give monthly and periodic reports.
15. Be able to have new ideas.
16. Work hand in hand with the host and partner CBO
17. Create partnership with different organizations.
18. Act as a linkage between Musoma Information center and Business partners.
19. Willing to work outside the country
20. Portray a good image of the organization in the community one works in
21. Any other duties as assigned by superiors
Job specification:
Academic and Professional Qualifications:
A NairoBits Medialab Diploma
Be able to write, speak and communicate in English
Any other relevant ICT qualifications an added advantage
Skills and Attributes:
- Thorough knowledge in MS Office suite
- to design using Photoshop.
- Able to communicate well with others
- Delivers informative and well-organized presentations.
- Generates learning enthusiasm among students
- Conducts effective progress evaluations in a timely manner.
Working Experience:
One year experience as a trainer
